Before you write: quick answers
Many questions about StateHandbook already have an answer on the site. If yours is here, you can skip the wait. If it is not, the form above is the quickest way to reach us, and including the email address you registered with helps us find your project.
I can't get into my account
StateHandbook accounts are email-only to start: you enter your email at registration and we send a link to set your password. You sign in at the login page. If the link has gone missing or expired, request a new one from the forgot-password page.
My state isn't listed
The handbook covers thirteen states plus federal law: California, New York, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Michigan, Washington, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Colorado. A state is only on that list if it has its own policies in our bank. If yours is missing, please do not buy; tell us through the form and we will add it. You can see what each covered state requires in writing on the state-by-state requirements page.
I need to change an answer in my handbook
You can correct your answers and rebuild your documents up to ten times at no extra cost, from your project page. Anything only you can answer, such as your evacuation route or a second person to receive complaints, prints as [EMPLOYER TO COMPLETE] and is listed on the checklist at the end of your compliance summary.
Is this policy right for my business?
We can explain how StateHandbook works and where a policy came from, but we cannot advise you on your legal obligations. StateHandbook is document preparation, not legal advice, and no lawyer has reviewed your handbook. Every policy cites the published source it was written from, so you can check it. For questions about what the law requires of you, speak to an employment lawyer or your state labor department, and have counsel review your handbook before you issue it.
What do I get, and what goes in a handbook?
Each purchase produces three documents in Word and PDF: the handbook, a compliance summary citing the authority behind every policy, and an acknowledgment form for the personnel file. Our guide to what goes in an employee handbook walks through one section by section, and the frequently asked questions cover coverage, updates and how the documents are built.
